Georges FAURE
Georges was born and raised in France where he joined the Armoured
Division and Cavalry School of Saumur as a non commissioned officer at age 18.
Assigned to the 23rd Spahis in Algeria in 1961, he placed first overall in the
final exam in the Officer's course for Student Cavalry Instructors at the Cadre
Noir of Saumur, following which he entered the group of "Sous Maitres et Maitres
de Manege" of the Cadre Noir of Saumur.
From 1963 to 1966 as an officer and Ecuyer at Saumur , as part of his overall
responsibilities he participated in 64 flat races, of which he won 11 and placed
in 35 ; 20 National and International level Combined Training Competitions, winning
6 and placing in 10 ; 20 jumping competitions, winning 3 and placing in 10. He
won team gold and individual silver medals as a member of the International Military
Combined Training Team. In 1970, he became a member of the French National Combined
Training Team, which was frequently in the winners circle.
Assigned to the Army School at Fontainebleau in 1972, and as a member of the Carousel
of Saumur, he was responsible for the formation and training of young horses,
4 & 5 year olds for various equestrian disciplines, including training the horses
for the Carousel itself, which includes all dressage movements through Grand Prix
and the Airs above the Ground.
He was actively participating in CT and Jumper competitions with enviable results
when he came to Canada in 1976. As a self employed instructor and clinician throughout
the United States and Canada, and apart from his French teaching diplomas, Georges
is a Canadian Level III Coach (CT) and a member of various Dressage and CT committees
; he has also coached a number of Canada's Provincial YR Event Teams to success
across the country. He resides in Bromont, Quebec.
